Type D Pocket

The Type D Pocket headbox features an extruded aluminum pocket headbox complete with tile lip for ceiling-recessed installation for both motorized and manual FlexShades®. Pockets are anchored through the top, and FlexShades® are installed using standard ceiling brackets. Installation of the Type D Pocket during the initial phase of construction eliminates job site damage, allowing for installation of the shade at a later time. Compatible with single roller endcaps or mounting brackets. Not suitable for all products/sizes.
  • Extrusion comes in 12’ 3" (374 cm) long sections and must be cut to fit the space available. Draper can also cut to size.
  • Headbox dimensions are 5-3/8" (137 mm) h x 5" (127 mm) d. Tile support lip dimension is 7/8" (22 mm).
  • Panel dimensions for motorized shades are 3" (76 mm) and for clutch-operated shades 1-1/2" (38 mm). Larger closure panels require field notching for bead chain clearance
  • Bottom closure panel is removable.
  • Available in white (standard).
  • Fixed lip along lower edge supports lay-in ceiling at bottom edge
  • Can be used with the FlexShade® Coupler. Accommodates clutch-operated or motorized FlexShades®.

If clutch-operated roller shades are installed in an environment where it's possible that young children will be present, they should comply with ANSI/WCMA A100.1, the Standard for Safety of Window Coverings.

If the shades that you purchase need to comply with this standard, it is your responsibility to inform Draper and opt-in to receive compliant products at time of order.

Compliant window shades will include:

  • Pre-installed spring-loaded chain tension device with bead chain threaded through it
  • Approved permanent warning label attached
  • Approved mechanical fasteners for the tension device included

If the tension device is not installed properly, or becomes unattached from the mounting surface, the shade will be rendered partially inoperable. If installed properly, the tension device will prevent the creation of a hazardous loop and will maintain tension on the bead chain. The tension device and label require tools to be removed.

The testing required by the WCMA for products to comply with safety standard A100.1 includes:

  • UV stability testing - AATCC Test Method 16 for UV Stability
  • Impact testing - ASTM D5420
  • Bead chain durability testing
  • Operation cycle testing - 3,000 cycles per the standard

Draper's spring loaded tension device passed the requirements of these tests.
