Motorized FlexShade 485 AC uses an intelligent 3-wire motor with RS-485 communication for reliable shade automation in commercial environments.

The Motorized FlexShade 485 AC incorporates a 3-wire intelligent motor with a built-in encoder and RS-485 communication for precise positioning, reliable synchronization, and seamless integration into large-scale commercial control systems. Designed for line-voltage infrastructure, it supports a wide range of automation strategies, from coordinated shading and lighting control to advanced building management applications. The system allows synchronization of individual shades, grouped zones, or entire floors, making it adaptable to complex facility requirements. Motorized FlexShade 485 AC combines durable construction, quiet operation, and straightforward installation.
 

Product Specs

  • CHILD SAFETY NOTICE: This product complies with ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022-Child Safety Standard and has been Certified Best for Kids™ by the Window Covering Safety Council.
  • Available in sizes from 29-3/4" to 168" (76 cm to 427 cm) wide, depending on fabric selection. Larger sizes available with FlexShade 2.
  • Shades can be coupled to reduce the number of motors required.
  • Secure, moisture-resistant connection to line voltage using M12 connector or Plug & Play option with three-prong NEMA plug.
  • AC motors use line voltage and can be parallel wired (daisy chained).
  • Bus distribution allows devices and controls on the bus line to communicate efficiently.
  • Centralized control supported through building controllers for advanced operation and facility management.
  • Sensors available for real-time light and weather monitoring.
  • Supports multiple user interfaces, including Zigbee, radio frequency, Z-Wave, and more.
  • Compatible with "U", "H", and "L" channels for light-gap reduction.
  • Hardware finish choices: clear anodized (standard), black, white, ivory, or charcoal bronze. Custom powder coat colors available.
  • Choose from a wide range of fabric colors, textures, and opacities — or customize with graphics, patterns, or color matching.

ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022 Child Safety Standard

Effective June 1, 2024, in compliance with the updated ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022 child safety standard, all Draper window shades operated by a bead chain will be furnished with a tensioned hold-down device that is permanently attached and partially disables the product if not installed correctly. This hold-down should be installed with tension on the chain.

All bead chain operated window shades will include:

  • Permanently installed spring-loaded tensioned hold-down device
  • Approved permanent warning label attached
  • Approved mechanical fasteners for the tension device included. Screws provided are not suitable for all mounting surfaces. The installer is responsible for secure mounting using appropriate hardware for the site conditions. Consult with contractors and builders as needed.

If the tension device is not installed with appropriate tension on the bead chain, the shade will be rendered partially inoperable. If installed properly, the tension device will prevent the creation of a hazardous loop and will maintain tension on the bead chain.
