Exterior Clutch Operated FlexShade delivers manual outdoor solar control for patios, restaurants, cafés, and other outdoor seating areas.

Exterior Clutch Operated FlexShade provides dependable manual solar control for exterior applications, whether mounted to reduce interior heat and glare or used to improve comfort in outdoor seating areas. Well suited for restaurants, cafés, patios, poolside spaces, and mixed-use developments, it helps expand usable square footage by creating cooler, more comfortable environments. By blocking sunlight before it reaches the glass, it also supports improved indoor comfort and productivity.
 

Product Specs

  • CHILD SAFETY NOTICE: To comply with ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022, this product ships with a Draper-designed Tensioned Hold-Down Device attached to the bead chain. Incorrect installation partially disables the product.
  • Available in sizes up to 11’ x 11’ (335 cm x 335 cm), depending on fabric selection.
  • Bead chain clutch operator mounted right- (standard) or left-hand operation.
  • Clutch available in white (standard) or black.
  • Stainless steel bead chain (standard). Polyester chain available in white, black, brown, grey, or ivory at no extra charge.
  • Mounting brackets and fascia with endcaps included.
  • Cable guides available to help stabilize the hem bar in windy conditions.
  • Weighted hem bar improves stability during operation.
  • Shades should be retracted in high‑wind conditions.
  • In coastal applications near salt water, some deterioration of the operator and bracket components may occur.
  • Hardware features powder coat finishes with a lightly textured surface in black, ivory, bronze, white, sand, and slate. Custom powder coat colors are also available.
  • Choose from a wide range of fabric colors, textures, and opacities — or customize with graphics, patterns, or color matching.

ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022 Child Safety Standard

Effective June 1, 2024, in compliance with the updated ANSI/WCMA A100.1-2022 child safety standard, all Draper window shades operated by a bead chain will be furnished with a tensioned hold-down device that is permanently attached and partially disables the product if not installed correctly. This hold-down should be installed with tension on the chain.

All bead chain operated window shades will include:

  • Permanently installed spring-loaded tensioned hold-down device
  • Approved permanent warning label attached
  • Approved mechanical fasteners for the tension device included. Screws provided are not suitable for all mounting surfaces. The installer is responsible for secure mounting using appropriate hardware for the site conditions. Consult with contractors and builders as needed.

If the tension device is not installed with appropriate tension on the bead chain, the shade will be rendered partially inoperable. If installed properly, the tension device will prevent the creation of a hazardous loop and will maintain tension on the bead chain.
