You Can Help the Environment- Recycle!

As part of Draper’s environmental initiative, we want to encourage everyone to recycle more. That includes all of Draper's Products! When you are replacing projection screens, projector mounts, projector lifts or gym equipment, you are removing products that are largely recyclable.

Shipping projection screens and other products back to a central point for recycling is costly to you and/or to your customer, and adds a carbon load to the process. You can make much more earth-friendly choices by working with your local resources.

1. If the product being replaced is in usable condition, consider donating it to a church, school, or charitable organization that is lacking audiovisual equipment, or to a local thrift store. Reuse is the most efficient form of recycling, and your donation may be tax deductible! See the links to the left for ideas on where to take reusable items.

2. If you have unusable products, you can recycle the content locally. Here are some basic steps:

• Separate viewing surfaces from the metal parts of the projection screen. Packaging materials are normally recycled when the product is installed. All of Draper’s packaging materials and fillers are recyclable. If the carton has been retained after installation, it can be put into any mixed recycling drop.
• All of the metal parts are normally acceptable in mixed recycling drops. This takes very little time and may reduce your trash hauling fees.
• If you do a lot of recycling, you may want to separate the aluminum, steel, and motor parts for a metal recycler. Metal recyclers will pay for these items. They will pay a higher rate if you recycle in large quantities and separate the metals by type (use a magnet to distinguish steel from aluminum). The motors contain steel and copper. You may also have an electronics recycler in your area with an interest in motors.
• Our unsupported vinyl surfaces, such as M1300, M2500, HiDef Grey and Cineflex, are accepted by many vinyl recyclers. Relatively few recyclers accept vinyl with a woven base or backing, like our Matt White and High Contrast Grey materials. These work well as tarps or drop cloths, so local contractors or your own installation crew may be able to reuse them.
