Voluntary Recall
As a result of recent industry press releases concerning strangulation hazards presented to young children by various window coverings, Draper thoroughly reviewed its product line and concluded that Draper Roman shades may be capable of presenting such a hazard. Although there have been no reported safety problems with any of the Draper Roman Shades, it has been reported generally that inner cords and looped beaded chains of some window coverings have been involved in injuries of young children, including strangulations when a young child places his/her neck in an exposed inner cord on the backside of some window coverings or in a looped beaded chain. For this reason, Draper is voluntarily recalling all of its Roman-CL and Roman-MO shades, and providing free Retrofit Kits. These shades are custom made to order and sold primarily through a system of dealers. Please note that we have received no reports of injuries or safety issues of any type related to Draper Roman shades. We are acting now to prevent the possibility of injuries or issues in the future by retrofitting the Roman Shades so they can be used safely.
If Draper Roman Shades are installed in areas where young children may be present, consumers should immediately stop using the Draper recalled shades, and contact Draper, Inc., to request a free Retrofit Kit through one of the methods below:
